How & What to Meal Prep
grabbing whatever because I didn't plan on my meals. But there is a process to make it a little easier to accomplish.
1. CLEAN YOUR FRIDGE + MAKE YOUR LIST! There are a few things I would do before going to the store to stock up. Most importantly, make sure you have your grocery list printed out and ready to go. I never leave home without a good grocery list and the meals I plan on making. It makes my life so much easier by taking the guessing out of it. Secondly, start out with a clean workspace. It feels great buying the fresh foods you’ll be eating, but it’s no fun it you just throw it all in the fridge and they get buried behind all the old stuff. Take time to clean out your refrigerator so it makes it easy to organize once you clean and chop all your fruits and veggies.
2. CLEAN AND CHOP THOSE FRUITS + VEGGIES!
Clean + chop all your fruits and veggies. When we get hungry, we don’t want to take the time to make something, so we usually grab whatever is easiest – most of the time, it’s unhealthy. Before putting your groceries away, clean and cut your fruits + veggies and place them in containers. When you get hungry, at least you have something healthy that’s ready to eat.
3. OVERNIGHT OATS
Grab and go options for busy mornings are a must! My go-to breakfast is Overnight Blueberry Oats. These are so delicious and super easy to make. It’s easy to grab whether you’re staying home or on the go. Make them in mason jars the night before. Make two at a time! They keep in the fridge for up to two days.
3. QUICK AND EASY
I love making meals in my Instant Pot or Crock Pot on Sundays. These are not only easy, but they’re also tasty and great for the entire family! Once I’m done making the meals, I store them in separate containers so I can either eat them for lunches or have them for dinner the next day.
5. TRAY DINNERS FOR THE WIN!
Another meal I love making are tray dinners. Meal prepping is amazing but not if you still need to cook a separate meal for the entire family. Tray dinners are great because you just throw everything on a tray and bake it! It’s that easy! These are also great to throw into containers and save for lunches or dinners for the week.
6. MAKE IT EASY ON YOURSELF
Stick with what you know – at least for some meals. Making new dishes can seem like they take forever and can meal prepping more difficult than it needs to be. At least for a week or two, I would recommend making at least two dishes you already know how to make, like Overnight Oats and Yogurt Parfait. These are quick and easy and will allow you more time to prep the other meals you want to try.
7. STAY HYDRATED
Grab your water bottle! Water is so important. There are so many benefits of drinking water – it keeps you hydrated, curbs hunger, gives you glowing skin, makes hair + nails stronger and you NEED it! I never go anywhere without my water bottle. Drink half your body weight in ounces a day.
Do it girl!! You'll be so happy you did.
